Inori giggled lightly. "How sweet, but if you don't feel the ssame way, you have to tell him. You cant let him think there might be something there." She paused, since when was she a love expert. She blushed at looked at her fumbling fingers. "--Since we're friends... can I share something with you aswell?" she looked up at her, she bit her lip. "I think... I might... love someone. But I shouldn't! It's stupid for me to..."

Sahara knew Inori was right. She didn't even have to ask her to know what she should do. But she wanted a way to... to break the ice. "Inori, it isn't stupid." She smiled, glad Inori was starting to be open about this. "And it isn't stupid if anyone loves you either. And well, you see, I already know who you-"
She was interupted by faint knocking. Sahara stood up and fumbled through the room, finally finding the door. She opened it, and smiled when she saw that it was Patrick. "Come on in." She opened the door wider, and Patrickwobbled in.
"Is Inori awake?" He whispered. "I need to tell her something." Sahara smiled. "Yea, she is awake." She reached in and whispered into his ear. "And it is about time." Patrick smiled. "Your right Sahara."
"Inori? Can I talk to you?" Patrick asked. "It is... kind of important. "
Sahara slipped out of the door way. She wanted them to be alone. She glanced around. The air was much colder outside... but she couldn't go back in...
Knock. Knock. She tapped her knuckles against Wolfgang's door. She felt bad to wake him, but she needed to get inside. she hated being out in the cold.

Wolfgang grumbled something incoherant. He got out of his bed and dragged himself to the door, half-assly putting his dark shirt on. He opened the door "so, you couldn't get the guts to-- oh, sorry Sahara." he rubbed his eye and looked down at her, confused. "Patrick kick you out?"
Inori was shocked when she heard Patrick's voice. She got up off her bed, her voice was frail, confused and nervous. "talk about what, Patrick?" she walked towards him as she folded her wing s behind her

Sahara laughed. "No, he didn't kick me out. And I'm sorry to wake you. Can I come in?" She rubbed her feet together, wishing she had atleast put her boots back on first.
Patrick took a deep breath. It was hard to talk to her, without being able to see her very well. Though even though he couldn't see her, he could still FEEL how beautiful she was. "Well, Inori... You..." He bit his lip. What was he doing? He was being a coward! "I noticed you seemed upset when Bonzo came back... I just wanted to see if you were ok..."
He wanted to smack himself in the face. 'You idiot!' He told himself in his head. 'Just tell her! What is the worst that could happen?' He frowned. 'She could not love me...' He shook his mind clear. He was a warrior! He had faught off whole raids! Why now was he so shakey? "No, Inori, that wasn't what I needed to talk to you about..." He reached out into the darkness for her hand, but missed, and grabbed hold of a feather in her wing.
He froze...
She was jintori. What was he doing? She had wings, and avian blood. And he was a human. He wanted to let go of the feather and run out of the room, but instead, he ran his hand up the side of her wing, feeling the soft feathers in his hand. She had beautifully soft wings, and it only made him love her more.Blushing, he let go, and researched the dark for her hand.
Finally, he grabbed hold of it. "Inori... I am just a... selfish human. I really am. I can't help it. I'm a warrior, but I have so many fears. I'm pathetic. And don't argue with me, because I know that I am." He took a deep breath. "But there is one thing I know for sure, one thing that makes me stronger than anything. And since I have met you, that one thing... that one thing IS you... And... my biggest fear.... is losing you."

Inori's face was burning, the touch of his hand on hers made her blush even more. She was so inexperienced in this. Love. "Patrick... Her voice was barley a whisper. She was scared. "I can't..." she pulled away from his touch, and it almost killed her. "I can't when I know your village wouldn't hestitate tokill me." tears began streaming down her cheeks.
"it's not s problem." he murmured, shuffling aroung the room for a light. "talk about oblivious, huh?"

Patrick's heart jolted in pain. "Inori..." He shook his head and jumped forward, reaching out and grabbing her arm. He wasn't just giving up. He wasn't just some normal scaredy cat. "Inori they wouldn't kill you! Not with me around! They wouldn't touch you! And if they even tried....I'd... I'd leave. I'd take you far away!"
He took a deep breath, relaxing. "Its about earlier, isn't it? Look... it's not the same. I'm sorry for what my people did... but they didn't know better. The pure blood jintori patrol the desert and kill us. They killed families and friends... They killed Connor. The village doesn't know what I know; that there are good jintori... great jintori. They need to know. I can teach them. We can teach them...Inori... I can't do this without you."
He let go of her arm and backed up a little. "But I wouldn't force anything on you." He paused, taking a very deep breath. "I love you Inori. I wont let anyone hurt you. Not ever again."
***
Sahara walked in and sat on Patrick's bed. "Don't bother. The jintori don't have electricity." She laughed. "And yeah... If it weren't for friends like us, they would never have talked to each other." She told Wolfgang. "I hope they don't back down... This was the first time I've seen Patrick with a real weakness." She chuckled.

His words were so much that she felt overwelmed. She had stopped her tears though. Why was she so afraid? She knew Patrick, she knew his loved ones meant the world to him. He had said it. He did love her. The feelings she had felt, ones of confusion, needing to know if he was ok.. Were they the same? As he took a step away, she could feel his presence fade. She reached out her hand, he wasn't there. Was it an illusion all along? Then, gently her hand met his cheek. She grazed it and let her hand drop to his neck. She took a step toward him so she could feel his body heat. She fell silent "i love you."
Wolfgang stopped searching with a laugh at himselfm. "he thought she and I had something going on.. now that's a laugh." he sat on his bed, staring out the window at the moon.

Patrick reached up and layed his hand on hers. His head dropped slightly. "Then don't leave me... come with me... please." He was glad he had the chance to get a shower right after dinner, because he would have been extremly embarrassed if he hadn't. He looked into her eyes. He could see her so perfectly now, as if the darkness wasn't even there anymore. He reached forward and wrapped his hand around her back, careful to not catch her wings. He pulled her closer until they were almost touching.
"I have a feeling Sahara and Wolfgang set us up..." He whispered, just realizing it. But he was glad. He smiled. He leaned his head closer, until his nose was touching hers. "You aren't alone anymore Inori." Then he kissed her. Her lips were cold against his, and at first, he pulled back a little, and then he pulled back in and kissed her again. His heart beat faster than ever, and he could feel hers beating, and his began beating in sync with hers. And he never felt more right.
***
Sahara laughed. "He thought YOU and Inori were in love? Seriously? I don't know about that boy. He is getting blinder and blinder each day." She smiled. "Oh, guess what? Bonzo kissed me. Yeah! Just kissed me! I feel bad for him though. I have to tell him in the morning that I have no feelings for him. I hope it doesn't break his heart too much." She laughed. "I still can't believe he kissed ME!"

Inori felt her heart thrash against her chest, she wrapped her arms around his neck, her inexperianced lips kissed him back with all the passion she could muster. She broke from his lips, just long enough to smile "we'll have to thank them later."
Wolfgang quickly turned towars Sahara's voice. "he kissed you?" he was more shocked than when Patrick had woken him up with his theory. "so you don't feel the same way back?" his voice became more quiet

Sahara shook her head. "I really don't... I mean, I don't really know him too well, and he seems like a great guy... but... we are too much the same. We wouldn't get along. Besides, I just... don't love him." She shrugged, not knowing how else to describe it. "How long have those two been in there? " She wished she had a watch. "Looks like I'm staying in here for now... you don't mind, do you?"
Patrick smiled back at her. "I guess we will." He leaned in to kiss her again. All the troubles of the past and all the troubles he knew were yet to come seemed to fade away. He just didn't care. As long as this one moment lasted forever, everything would be alright. Everything would be perfect.
He broke away and laughed. "If only my friends back in Shifuto Hiru could see me now... kissing you. They'd think I was crazy, kissing a jintori. But then, I'd think they were crazy for not kissing one." He laughed. "Thank you Inori... for coming back for me... Thank you..." He kissed her again, this time, much longer. He closed his eyes as time froze in its tracks. 'I love you Inori...' He said in his head. 'And that is all that matters.'

"might as well stay, I don't have a problem." he lay diwn in his bed, arms crossed behind his head. "Sahara... Can I ask you something? How your leg..." he shut his mouth, it wasn't his buisness. "er.. Nevermind."
Inori sighed lightly as she Stopped kissing him. She couldn't part from him. "tomorrow... It's going to be dangerous, isn't it?" she kissed his neck, "I just want to stay here, with you... But we have to go.".

Sahara shook her head. "Don't feel embarassed to ask." She looked down at her robotic leg. "It was a jintori raid. I was eight. Or seven. I can't really remember now." She sighed. "They kept saying I was the lucky one. But I lost a family. How is that lucky?" She shrugged. The same jintori that took my leg gave me the scar on my eye. I still remember his face..." She bit her lip. "But what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, right?"
**
Patrick nodded. "Tomarrow is going to be hell. If you think going near my village as a jintori is dangerous, you should try visiting Shifuto Aisu as a Shifuto Hiru resident. " He stroked one of her wings, loving its softness. "But... we made it this far. We'll make it through it. I just know it. Something tells me that we are going to be ok."
"But still... I'd like to say that the journey is over... but it is just begun. And once we get back to the village, I can inform them about the rogue jintori, and the purebloods... and the sunahanes." His fingers reached her soft hair. He was amazed at how easily his fingers ran through it. "But I know everything is going to be ok Inori."

Inori nodded, she beleived him. "it will be hard. But I will stay with you until it's finished. Maybe... Jintori and men can live how they do here". She yawned lightly, her wings shifted. "I'm tired. we heed rest for tomorrow"
"...I'm sorry. It is hard to lose family, especially at a young age." he pondered for a moment, drifting in and out of conciousness. "Tomorrow... It's going to either be the best... Or worst day of my life. I promise no more of your friends will die, no matter what happens."

Sahara smiled. "I know that. I mean... I have the best friends a world can offer. nothing can touch you guys." She layed down on Patrick's bed, looking up towards the roof. For a few moments, she was silent. Then finally, she spoke up, not sure if Wolfgang was still awake or asleep yet. "Will you stay with us? In Shifuto Hiru?"
***
Patrick nodded. "Get some rest Inori. We'll all need as much as we can get." He smiled at her, like it was a dream or something. He looked around. "Do you think I should go get Sahara?" He frowned. "Maybe she is already asleep... It's been a while... "

Inori held on to Patrick's hand, she looked up at him. "she might still be awake, but I think if she wanted her bed she would have come in here awhile ago."
Sahara's question was a vital one, but was unheard. Wolfgang lay on his bed, sound asleep. He snored lightly, but loud enough to hear

Patrick smiled and nodded. "Then... I guess I will just stay in here." He walked over to the empty bed and sat in it. He looked over at Inori and grinned. "I'll see you in the morning. And I'll be dreaming of you." He pulled the covers over himself, closed his eyes, and drifted into slumber.
***
Sahara frowned. She let out a deep sigh. "Good night Wolfgang."She would have to ask again sometime... perhaps. For now, she might as well to as the others did and go to sleep. She closed her eyes, trying to doze off, but something kept her awake. An hour passed, and she still wasn't comfortable. She tossed and turned, but she couldn't sleep.
Finally, she just decided to get up and go for a quick stroll outside. She stepped out of the door, wrapping her coat around her. She took a step forward, then was nearly startled to death. "oh.. Sahara." It was Bonzo, sitting outside on the bridges. Sahara cocked her head. "What... are you doing here?" Bonzo frowned. "I was waiting... for sunrise. I often do... Lately, I havn't slept..." "Oh..."
Bonzo looked over at Sahara. "You don't have any feelings for me at all, do you?" Sahara sighed, then shook her head. "No, I'm sorry Bonzo. " He nodded. "Then I was a fool." Sahara shook her head. "You are no fool Bonzo. You can see into people's hearts, can't you?" The rogue leader nodded. "And I know why you can't love me. You are in love with another, aren't you?" Sahara bit her tongue, then turned her head.
"I... I don't know yet." Bonzo laughed lightly. "I can feel it. You love being around him. He isn't like you at all, and that is what you like about him." Sahara shrugged. "It doesn't even matter... he... well, you know why it wouldn't work." Bonzo nodded. "It must be painful for you, giving him up like that, even though you love him so much." Sahara shrugged again. "I'm used to pain... I've had it my whole life." She glanced down at the robotic leg. "This thing hasn't stopped hurting since I got it... I just refuse to show it."
Bonzo frowned. "I still think you should tell him. Despite. He should know." Sahara shook her head. "It would ruin everything. For him." Bonzo sighed. "Then you are even stronger than I thought. So what now?" Sahara shrugged. "For now, he is my friend. A best friend. " Bonzo glanced down, nodding sadly. "It will be sad when you four leave our company tomarrow. I'll have you know, we are prepairing only the finest equipment for you." Sahara looked over at Bonzo and smiled. "Thank you." Bonzo nodded. "Well! You have to promise me that you will visit sometime!"
Sahara smiled and nodded. "I promise." She turned back around and into Wolfgang's room. She layed back down in bed, and finally, after the longest few hours, nodded off into sleep.
************
She might have been the last one asleep, but she was the first one awake. Woken up by a dream she had, Sahara thought it best to just stay awake. The sunlight shone through the windows. She threw the blankets off of herself and stood up and stretched. She walked over to where Wolfgang was sleeping, laughed at his position, and pulled off his covers. "Rise and shine sleeping beauty! "
She walked over to the door and opened it wide. She stuck a rock in the doorway to keep it open. "Hurry up Wolfgang, or breakfast will be gone." She noticed that the table they had eaten dinner at was filled again, this time with breakfast. The jintori were already eating, as well as Strawberry, Jester, and Buskin. They had probably let them sleep in. It had been a long night after all.
Sahara walked by Patrick and Inori's room and pounded on the door. "Hey! Love birds! Wake up! The sun is up and so is breakfast!" She walked up to the breakfast table in her socks and grabbed a plate. Strawberry greeted her emmediately. "Good morning Strawberry." Sahara patted her down. Her hand didn't even bleed. She must have been getting used to the sharp feathers.
When she sat down at the table, a familiar face sat next to her. "Oh... Kumming... what is it?" She asked the elderly jintori. Kumming smiled. "I was sent to tell you that the supplies are ready and need your approval." Sahara moaned. "Can't I finish breakfast first?" Kumming chuckled. "Ofcourse, ofcourse! See me when you are ready, I will take you to them." Sahara nodded and smiled, then continued munching on her scrambled eggs, which she had alot of. Scrambled eggs were her favorite, and besides, she didn't see anybody else eating them. Perhaps the jintori did not eat other birds after all.

A low growl emitted from under the covers. Usually Wolfgang loved mornings, at least in Tailai Ueki. The mornings were fresh with cold forest air. Dew hung on spiderwebs and grass. The world was a painting. He woke up here, and there was only heat. He ignored Sahara's comment and threw off his covers when she left to wake up everyone else, then assumingly have breakfast. He sighed, sliding his hand from his forehead to his cheek, what would be in store for them today? Wolfgang shut his eye tight as he closed the windows, the high-pitched shriek in his head settled.
Inori stirred in her sheets, Sahara's loud knocking woke her from her dreams. It had been so dark last night, had she dreamt the entire thing? She turned her head, expecting to see an empty bed, but there he was. Inori walked over as quietly as she could and knealt beside the slumbering Patrick. His every feature made her smile, she loved being in love with him. Inori wanted to be sleeping beside him. Instead, she kissed his nose and quickly dressed from the clothes she had found last night, no doubt from the Jintori.
She crept out of the room and gently closed the door behind her. She turned around and almost screamed. "oh! Wolfgang, you scared me!" The man looked weary, his shoulders lowered. "sorry, I was just making sure you were both up, though I suppose Sahara beat me to it." Inori laughed lightly and turned Her head to the door. "I'm letting Patrick sleep... Well, he may be awake now. Also, here. Your cloak. Thank you, it's so easy to be cold when you have hollow bones." Wolfgang wasn't sure if he was supposed to laugh, so he didn't. "Well, you needed it more than me. I'm getting breakfast."
Inori watched as he turned and left. Now Would be better than ever. "Wolfgang, wait!" He stopped and swayed, he was obviously tired and not too fond of the bright sun. "When you gave me your cloak...cwheb you put it over your head.. she walked up to him and softy ran her fingers through his hair. Wolfgang looked embarressed and confused "I-I didn't mean it in any way other than friendsh--" Inori lifted his hair from behind his left ear "--I saw this. At first I thought it was a mark... But it really is a brand" She dropped her hand, while Wolfgang quickly put his hand where the brand was. She glared up at him. "Its how villages mark the exiled, isn't it? The traitors?" Damn, if he had known she was so observant, he wouldn't have bothered giving the cloak to her. "It just means I can't return there. Taikai Ueki. It's reason I'm here. So I can go back. No one should know."
Inori frowned, she had admired Wolfgang, like how a sister looks up to a big brother (a not very talkative, sometimes grumpy brother). Now, she was just disapointed. "I don't have to explain myself to you. You don't trust me? Fine, tell everyone. I'll make it to Shifuto Aisu myself." He began to walk off again, this time face burning. "You may be a traitor, but you're kind. I can see it. I won't tell anyone.. But if you think I can trust you, you're mistaken."
Wolfgang paused for a long moment. He could feel Inori's eyes on his back, she would be watching him now, no doubt worried for Patrick and Sahara's sake. He wouldn't-- couldn't hurt them. The voice, however, would without hesitation.
Maybe leaving by himself would be better, he could find someone to lead him to the frozen sea, and sneaking into Shifuto Aisu would be simple with only one body. He nodded, thats what he would do, everyone was busy, he could simply sneak away... Suddenly, the wind Picked up, so hard that the bridges shook violently and the smaller trees leaned. A thought occured to him. Connor. He couldn't just leave, not after he had taken Patrick's comrade and a child's father. He sighed, the thoughts left his mind for the moment, he had no excuse now.
Defeated, Wolfgang made his way to the breakfast table. He was starving, after all.

The rogue jintori watched the visitors from a distance, closely survaying their minds and hearts. He could tell alot about them, just by watching. How Patrick had a soul strong enough to do anything for his friends and never give up, how Sahara's heart was filled with sadness and darkness, and yet she only showed the light, how Inori was keeping back a deadly secret, but how she finally felt like a part of something. And then there was Wolfgang...
Bonzo had never sensed anything like it before. He felt that when he was pearing into the young man's soul, he was pearing into two, instead of just one. And every time he got close enough to almost hear his thoughts, it felt as if an evil shadow would attack him, and he had to back off. He knew very little about Wolfgang, and it almost made him nerous. But he knew that the others respected him, and he would respect that also.
Finally, after a few moments of watching, Bonzo walked up behind Wolfgang. "You are Wolfgang, right?" He paused. "I would love to sit next to you through breakfast and chat, if you don't mind." He picked up a plate, though only picked up a napkin and a small cup of water. He wasn't hungry this morning, and he had other things on his mind.
***
Patrick was so deep in slumber, that he didn't even hear the knock on the door, or feel the kiss on his nose. He slept through it all. Even as the smell of eggs and bacon filled his nostrils, he slept on, cursed by the shadowy dreams of a nightmare. One he had frequently dreamt for almost three years, every night getting worse and worse. This time, it was almost unbearable...
"Sir! They are here! Their troups out number us!" Warriors ran through the half ruined streets of Shifuto Hiru, their sabbia's tagging along behind them. Some of the villagers hid under crates and basements, holding their weeping children. Bodies littered the streets, many human, and some jintori. Now, a new species was introduced to the body count, those of many sunahanes, a ghastly green liquid spewing from their pierced hearts.
Patrick weeped into the feathers of his fallen sabbia comrade. Another jintori charged at him, and he picked up an abandoned sword and slung it into the air, piercing the jintori's heart. The blood ran down the length of the sword and burned Patrick's hand. "This was not supposed to happen!" He screamed. "Why did they turn on us?!"
Then a new chapter of the nightmare unlocked as Patrick heard a most familiar scream. He ran to the site of the scream, and dropped to his knees as he saw the bodies filling the oasis, once thought to be a life saving place, was now a site of grave sadness. "Sahara..." He craweled to her lifeless body, grabbing hold of her hand. "How... who could have done this?" Next to her, another body lay dead, that of Wolfgang.
"Patrick!" An all too familiar voice echoed from behind him. He turned around and held his sword up high, but nearly dropped it when he saw her face.
"In... Inori. How... how could you do this?" The jintori's eyes were glazed and blinded. "Don't blame me Patrick. It wasn't me, it was them." In Immense rage, Patrick lifted his sword, and swung it at the still beautiful Inori...
Patrick fell out of his bed from the nightmare, shaking and sweating in fear. He held up his hand and covered his eyes as he silently weeped. Why did these dreams keep coming? And now... Inori was there... Patrick shook his head, wiping the last bit of terrified tears from his eyes. "She wouldn't!" Patrick whispered into the air at unknown shadows. "Not Inori. Not ever. You are wrong!"

Wolfgang wasn't in any mood to talk, but Bonzo and his flock had done so muh, he sighed as he scooped some fruit onto his plate. "If that's what you wish, you may." he looked at his plate, it wasn't half as full as it had been last night, his hunger was turning into nausia. He sat down at the table, far from Sahara. He didn't feel like facing her, Patrick and especially Inori for a short while.
Inori looked down from the wooden bridge. She exhaled and sat on the bridge, wings outstretched in the now calm wind. She watched Wolfgang, how could she accuse him of being a traitor when she knew she still had that terrible mission to accomplish? Why did finding a home have to be so hard? Inori looked toward the small building were she had slept. Would Patrick still love her after? Of course not, she could barley face herself now. She sniffled, but didn't dare cry. She had done this to herself

Bonzo sat down next to Wolfgang and drank half of his water, glad that Wolfgang decided to sit away from the others. "You have a great secret. I sensed it." He took another sip of his water, and put the glass down, looking at Wolfgang and hoping for his full attention. "I have a gift. I can sense things... feelings, hopes, even thoughts sometimes. But you, you I can not get close to. I feel like... you have a curse."
He caughed lightly into his hand, then continued talking before Wolfgang could say or do anything else. "And even though I know absolutly nothing about you, I know what your friends think of you." He smiled. "And they think very highly of you. I don't know how you came to be with the others, because you seem different, but you should know that they see you as one of them. And I sure hope your not planning to distance yourself from them too much."
He picked up his cup and finished his water. "I sense two auras in your body. But I do not fear. Because one is stronger than the other. And I believe that is you, Wolfgang. And though darkness surrounds you, I am sure that your light will return. And your friends will help make sure of that. They are your only candles Wolfgang. Don't put them out." He grabbed his plate and napkin and rose out of his seat, then without another word, he turned and headed out.
***
Bonzo had caught Sahara's attention. She watched him from across the large table, sit next to Wolfgang. She wondered what he was talking to him about. Perhaps Bonzo knew a little bit more than what Sahara knew. Or what Sahara might have known. Before she could let Wolfgang realize she was watching, she turned her attention back to the food on her plate, and began devouring the last of the eggs.
****
Patrick stumbled out of the room with an enourmous headache. His eyes caught the view of Inori. Innocent, beautiful Inori. He smiled and walked up to her. "Good morning Inori." He looked into her eyes. They were not glazed nor full of evil. They were pleasant and beautiful. He took a deep, long breath and smiled. "Did you get any breakfast yet?" He glanced around, noticing that the room Wolfgang and he was supposed to sleep in was open, and there was nobody inside. "I guess everyone else is already awake."
