Wolfgang slowly rose from under his blankets. He rubbed his eye, not processing what Sahara had said until Another minute. "Hmn? What??" He stood up and walked over to where the other Sabbia had slept, and then in the sky. "She couldn't have gotten far. Where could she have gone?"
Inori was quick to wake up. and quick to take to the sky. She only flew a few feet up so she was over the treetops. Turning slowly, she began to land onto the soft sand. "no luck. What should we do? We cannot possibly continue without her.."

Patrick woke quickly as well. Sahara's frantic voice was enough to wake him from the deepest sleep, but when it was about the sabbia, it was a whole new level, especially when it came to a sabbia that Patrick himself broke and trained from the wild. He glanced around, thinking where and why the sabbia would escape off to. Something wasn't right.
"Sahara don't worry, we'll find her. Me and Inori will fly south and search for her. We can cover a lot more ground. No offense, but we both have two good eyes. You and Wolfgang should search near the shores of the frozen sea. Maybe she got hunry and went fishing..." He tied the seat to his bottom and jumped into the saddle. "Inori, lets go." He ordered without consulting anyone else. It was no offense to Wolfgang, but he completely disagreed with his logic. A sabbia, especially one like Strawberry, could definately get far, and very fast.
Patrick flew off, hoping Inori wasn't too far behind. He glanced over the trees, looking for any clues of a runaway sabbia. It was lucky that Strawberry was such a unique sabbia, with her autumn red feathers that were slightly easier to spot in a green forest. Hopefully they would find her... and soon.
Sahara took no offense to Patrick's comment, but as he flew off, something else occured to her. "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO COVER ANY GROUND ON FOOT?!" She called off at Patrick, though she knew he couldn't hear her. "Crap." She muttered, but instead of waisting time, she took off running, her good eye quickly glancing back and forth. "Strawberry!" She shouted, before nearly tripping over a rock. Not only did her metal leg make her slower, but clumsier too. "There is no way I'll be able to find her like this!" She yelled at herself.
She felt like she was losing a part of herself. It was true that before this journey even began, she hated the bird. But since then, they had both saved each other's lives, and had bonded beyond human understanding. It was almost like they could read each other's minds. 'So where are you now?' Sahara thought inside her head.

"Right. Good luck." Inori breathed as she stretched out her wings and toook off after Patrick. She hugged her coak to her closely and began searching from the sky. She lagged slightly behind Patrick, but only to look where he may not have. No luck, though they had only just begun. Inori knew that without the sabbia, there would be no way for them to get to Shifuto Aisu, and she also knew that each sabbia played a very important role in Patrick and Sahara's life. It was like losing a best friend. "Patrick!" She called out, hoping he wouldn't look over at her, in fear of maybe missing Strawberry, "Do you think Jester or Buskin may be able to track her somehow?" she knew sabbia were keen hunters with heightened senses, but she also knew that it would also be very hard to find a sabbia, especially if they didn't want to be found. She pondered to herself and prayed that Strawberry had gone off for a simple reason like fishing, and not taken or left.
Wolfgang watched Sahara as she ran into the forest. He turned quickly to Buskin, who returned the glance. He quickly untied him, and Buskin began to beat his powerful wings. Wolfgang shielded his face from the sand that blew around him and quickly jumped on the sabia after tying the saddle on. "Patrick said look over the shores, so that's what we should do. Alright?"
Buskin shrieked in reply, and took off close to the ground near the shore. The practically black water lapped up on the shore, the small bit of water that had frozen overnight still moved as they flew past. Wolfgang tugged on the reigns and Buskin came almost to a complete stop. "Sahara, will you get on?" he wasn't quite sure why she had taken off running, but he understood Strawberry and her were comrades, and that she was in a great hurry to find her. "Or do you want to search the shores while I check more closer to the forest?"

Sahara stopped and took a quick glance at Wolfgang. A mesh of thoughts were whirling around her head; was Strawberry alright, should she ride with Wolfgang or walk, what happens if something did happen to Strawberry... and so on. But as she heard Wolfgang's offer, most of her thoughts were that of how she could thank him. However, she didn't have any time for any of that. So without hesitation, she answered Wolfgang by grabbing a hold of his shoulder and swinging onto the back of Buskin.
"Well! Lets go!"

For a fleeting moment, Wolfgang was happy Sahara didn't make him get off so she could steer Buskin. Quickly, he nodded at her request and nudged Buskin on the sides with his heels.
Buskin sped ahead with lightning speed, raising high enough to cover enough ground with his speed. Wolfgang gazed from the dark ocean to the forest, he couldn't see Strawberry anywhere, but he couldn't give up so easily.

Patrick shook his head. "No!" He called out behind him. "Sabbia can't track. Now the oiseau, well... they are a different story. We had one before... well before the sunahanes attacked us. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure he got away." He continued to scan the trees below, but so far, there was no sign of the bird.

Sahara kept a hand on Wolfgang's shoulder. She was suprised how much harderit was to balance at the rear of a sabbia. She leaned over, making sure to look straight down. Mean while, she began to get more and more nervous.
"The main idea is to stay calm." Sahara could have sword she heard her father say. She remembered the day that he had told her that. She had lost her favorite toy, and was very upset to have lost it. Her father taught her a simple trick, to connect with what was lost, to stay calm, and almost read its mind. Ofcourse, it sounded silly back then, what with a toy. But now, Sahara was thinking that maybe he was training her way ahead of time.
She tried calming down. She took a few deep breaths and closed her eyes. 'Strawberry... Where did you run off to?' She opened her eyes. She saw the trees way off to the right part into a small clearing. She remembered that clearing too when she was younger. She was fourteen at the time. She wanted to revisit the sea, but chickened out. While she was heading back, she got lost, and came to a clearing.
That was when she met Will. She smiled at the memory. He was her first boyfriend... the first thing she began to love after her brother's death. "Go right Wolfgang, towards that clearing way out there. I just have this feeling that she is there..."

"Hold on." he called over the roarig wind and leaned quickly. Buskin turned toward the clearing and shot straight forward. Wolfgang didn't realize how fast Buskin truley was, he also didn't resize that his fear of heights had almost completley vanished.

Sahara had to grab Wolfgang with both hands, and still she nearly fell off. Now she knew why it was usually illegal in Shifuto Hiru for two riders on a sabbia. Her eyes scanned the trees around the clearing, though her blurred vision in her left eyes was getting in the way. "Can we land, please?" She asked. "She has to be down there.. I can feel it."
As the clearing came into view, Sahara was amazed by how little it had changed. It was as if she had been there yesterday.

Buskin landed with haste, watching Wolfgang a he jumped off. "Stay here, Buskin." he then turned to Sahara.
Inori bit her lip, still watching the trees. No luck.

Sahara stepped (or slidded) off of Buskin and glanced around. "Strawberry... here girl." She called out, not sure how else to call her. She stepped forward and stopped when she reached a large tree, the only tree in the clearing, but the largest tree in the forest. She had heard a myth that this tree was so powerful, and its roots so large that it sucked the water and the life from nearby trees, so that nothing else could grow but grass. Not even weeds bothered the ancient tree.
She ran her hand down the bark to a spot that seemed to have been carved from the tree. She smiled. How long it had been since she had last seen the one who carved his name next to hers in its bark...
"No way... Sahara?" Sahara froze, and turned around. Her eyes widened when she set her eyes upon him.
"...Will..."

"Will?" Wolfgang paused as he finished de-saddled himself and glared over. He could see there wasn't fear on Sahara's face, so he didn't dare pull put his weapon. He did, however run his gloved hand through Buskin's feathers to calm him down. He was the same way with Wolfgang at first too, uneasy with a stranger. He had a lot of questions for the man named Will, but he didn't want to interupt whatever it was Sahara and him were bound to talk about. Buttig out was, unfortunatley, his only option.

William, or Will, was a young man, only a year older than Sahara. His dirty blonde hair was slightly spiked, yet looked suprisingly sleek. His green eyes stared at Sahara like she was a long lost love........
"Sahara how did you... You came back?" His suprised expression melted into a fervent smile. "Its been too long. After you disapeared...." Sahara smiled back at him. It was good to see him again. "Will... I wish I were here on friendlier grounds, but I... I actually lost my sabbia..." Will nodded. "I thought she might be yours. She has the same fiery spirit!" He whistled, and a smaller sabbia crawled out from the large tree's branches and landed before him. It was followed by a red feathered burst of leaves and twigs.
"Strawberry!" Sahara patted down her sabbia, glad to be reunited. William smiled. "I'm glad you got over that fear of yours..." Sahara glared half assed at him. "It wasn't a fear... it was a hatred. But I'm completly over it now." William smiled, then finally noticed Wolfgang. He frowned. "Who is your friend?" Sahara glanced over at Wolfgang. "This is my friend, Wolfgang." She shrugged at Wolfgang. "Sorry Wolfgang, this is Will... he is an old friend of mine."
"Friend?" William laughed. "We were in love." He informed Wolfgang. Sahara's cheeks redened just a bit. "Well... we were kids..." Will smiled, walking over to the tree. "Its still here, Sahara. I told you it would be here forever... And so would I." Sahara looked into William's eyes. He was the same Will she had fallen in love with... sweet, caring, handsome... and just an over all great guy. "You did say that." Sahara blushed.

Wolfgang awkwardly cleared his throat, not wanting to interupt (okay he really did), but spoke anyway. "Sahara, if you have Strawberry, we should head back. I'm sure Patrick and Inori are there, waiting." he returned the glance at Will, he couldn't put his finger on it, but he didn't trust him one bit, despite what Sahara had said.

Sahara looked over at Wolfgang and frowned. She did wish she could stay and talk to him a bit more, catch up on things, remember the good old times, but she also knew Wolfgang was right. It wasn't fair to Patrick and Inori to keep searching if she had found Strawberry. Besides, she had made a promise...
"I'm sorry Will, but he is right. We can't stay." Will frowned. His face seemed shocked, as if he couldn't believe this was happening. "Sahara, but.. you just got here. Last time I saw you... we were kissing under the moonlit sky, and the next... you were gone. I was afraid something had happened to you..." Sahara shrugged, but didn't speak. "Atleast stay a little longer..." Sahara shrugged her head. "I'm afraid we can't, Will." She walked over to Strawberry and plopped onto her back. The boy seemed even more shocked.
Sahara nodded to Wolfgang and tightened her grip on the reigns, and Strawberry unfurled her wings. "No, wait!" Will called after her. "Atleast tell me what happened to you... that night." Sahara looked him in the eyes and frowned. "Its simple Will. I left." William frowned. "But... we said forever..." Sahara rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry Will. It really was great while it lasted. You were so kind to me... but... forever doesn't happen. And our forever ended years ago."
Sahara had never seen a more pathetic, devastated look than what she saw on William's face. "When... when did you stop loving me?" Sahara smiled. "About four days ago, honestly." William's brows went crooked. "Why?" Sahara shrugged. "Life's a mystery, isn't it? Look, quit waiting around for me, and get out of here. Go try to live a normal life. Go find a village, instead of living out here by yourself."
She clicked her tongue, and like that, she was up in the air. She turned her head to Wolfgang. "Alright... now lets go find Patri-" But she was cut off as Strawberry jolted forward, nearly ramming into Buskin. "Strawberry! What are you doing?!" She tried to calm the bird, but she lunged again, this time running into Buskin with enough force that it knocked Sahara out of her seet...

Buskin shrieked his confusion and disaproval as Strawberry rammed into him. He kicked the air and quickly settled afterward, but Wolfgang had been too busy trying to keep himself balanced that Sahara had fell before he could grab her. "Sahara! Dammit!" he knew if he tried to dive after her, it would just result in two injured bodies. Buskin had barley heard her name before soaring down after her. Wolfgang cursed at the wind, the entire thing had been sudden. Why would Strawberry do such a thing?

Sahara scratched at the air, trying stupidly to slow herself, and failing completly. She looked down... why did she look down? Cringing, she did the only thing she knew how. She held out her robotic leg. Fortunately for her, the fall could have been worse. Unfortunately... she was hurt. And was once more missing a leg. Oh, and she was unconscous.
Will had heard the noise from the short distance, and had boarded his own, much smaller sabbia to find out what it was. When he noticed it was Sahara, he quickly ran to her. "Sahara?" He asked, then thankfully noticed she was still breathing. But something had to be done. And first thing was first...
William could see blood from where the robotic leg met up with her flesh. But it wasn't the fall that had caused it. The leg was short circuting, shocking her leg with enough volts to burn her, badly. Without anymore hesitation, William quickly grabbed hold of the leg and ripped it away from Sahara's flesh. What was left of her upper leg was bleeding badly, so he pulled off his shirt and tied it around her. He pulled out a small vial and emtied it into her mouth. After a few moments, it almost magically stopped the bleeding.
"Sahara, you are going to be alright. I promise..." he looked up at Wolfgang. "If you are her friend, then help me. She wont die... but if I don't get her back to my place quickly, she is going to be paralized...."

Wolfgang had practically leaped off of Buskin before he reached the ground. He ran to Sahara's aid, but she was defjbstley out cold. As Will came over and ripped off her leg he stood, horrified that he had almost had her in his grasp. She wouldn't have been hurt. Though he would never admit it, Wolfgang wad releived to see Will, hopefully he knew what he was doing. He could help her.
"Fine, hurry and lead the way, I'll carry her." He knealt down, careful of her gruesome injury. Will had stopped the bleeding, but Wolfgang knew it would still hurt like hell if anything else happened to it.
Very, very carefully Wolfgang picked up his unconsious comrade. She barley weighed a thing, which he knew was definatley because her metal, robotic leg was detached. The small breaths he heard was like music, he couldnt begin to imagine what would of happened if she haddnt used get leg to break her fall. Wolfgang stood up, holding her tightly in his arms. He couldn't trust the sabbia to carry her, not after the last incident. He nodded to Will with uncertainty and desperation. "hurry."

Will led Wolfgang quickly through the clearing and into the trees. The tiny sabbia flew behind him, almost like a puppy following its mother's milk. Finally, they broke into a much smaller clearing, and in the middle of it was a poor, run down shack. "Bring her inside." He opened the door and emmedietly started rummaging through a cuboard, which was filled with vials and bottles of pills and liquid medicines, bandages, and medical tape.
"Lay her on the table." he pointed without looking. "She needs a hard, straight surface." The outside of his house had been a wreck, but on the inside, not one thing was out of place. Everything was put away neatly, in order, and stacked perfectly aligned. There were four chairs around the dining room table, each one equal distanced from the others. There were no pictures of family or friends, no paintings, or decorations of any kind on the walls. There also seemed to be nothing to occupy himself.
The small sabbia snuck his way inside and sat down in the kitchen, where William was still going through his cuboards. The sabbia just sat there and waited, almost unmoving, unblinking. A small clock ticked on top of the counter.
Finally, he must have found the right vial, because he reached into the back and pulled one out. "That leg saved her life in the fall, but it is garbage now." He reached over and grabbed the leg, then tossed it in the garbage, which was before, completly empty. The leg was important to Sahara, but not nearly as important as her life, which he now had little time to save.

Wolfgang obeyed everything William had said to do, first entering the house and lying Sahara on the bare table. He did so very carefully and stepped back to make sure he had set her down properly. He looked around the house, the difference from the inside verses the out was far, but at the moment he had little drive to continue to examine further.
He watched William intently as he pulled out a vial and then throw out her robotic leg like it had been nothing but a used napkin. Sahara would have a hard time getting around without one, but he had to believe William when he said it was for the better. He thought of Patrick and Inori, they must have returned back to camp, worrying about them, or at least Strawberry. He glanced outside the window and saw Buskin sitting outside, his beak buried in his side feathers where Strawberry had hit him. ‘Sahara, you better be alright.’ he thought repetitively, he leaned against one of the small, bare walls.

William had to work quickly. He went over to Sahara and took his shirt off her leg, then slowly poured the contents of the vial onto the burn wounds. The blood sizzled, reacting with the contents of the vial. He went back into the kitchen and pulled out a small knife out of the knife block, then returned to Sahara. Very carefully, he began to cut a little bit into her skin. After a few short, very precise cuts, he pulled out a small metal piece from her leg. About as soon as he pulled it out ,the skin began to react to the odd purple liquid from the vial, and it sealed itself, preventing any more blood loss.
"She'll be fine." He informed Wolfgang, then carefully peared at the metal piece he had pulled from her leg. His eyes widened as he realized just how dangerous things could have been. "Those IDIOTS!" He slammed his fist on the counter, causing the knives in the knife block to jump a little. Almost angrily, he tossed the piece into the garbage. "the people who gave her that leg... They could have killed her." He said to Wolfgang, not able to keep any secrets. "It is new technology I suppose, but they should have known what they were doing! That chip was damaged. It was probably causing her immense pain, and if it had been maybe a week later... in its condition..." He calculated the probability.
"It could have killed her." He turned and disapeared into a seperate room. When he came back, he was carrying an armful of heavy robotic legs. He set them down on the counter and examined them. "I myself know a lot about machinery...The leg that Sahara had, that was my creation. But they wouldn't let me install it. And because of that, they nearly killed her! If it wasn't for that fall... I wouldn't have caught it in time. I think that sabbia of hers saved her life... Here we go, this one."
He picked up one of the mechanical legs and held it up to his eye. He examined it up and down for any problems or nicks. It was a lot lighter than the one she had before, but still rather heavy. "Sahara will be fine... but she had to stay here over night. The liquid I poured on her leg will heal it quickly, but her body just went through a lot of stress. She needs the rest."
"N..no..." A light voice came from Sahara's trembling lips. "William please... Fix me. We have to leave today...I made a promise." William looked at her with confusion. " But if you leave too soon, you could be injured worse." Sahara slowly opened her eyes, grunting in pain. "I can't stay Will.. we don't have time for this!" She cringed in pain. "Holy shit William this stuff stings!"
